谢锡金

(榮休), 教授

Professor TSE Shek Kam is a former Professor in the Faculty of Education at The University of Hong Kong (HKU). He is a founding member of both the Centre for Advancement of Chinese Language Education and Research (CACLER) and the CMI Centre (Teacher Support Centre for Chinese as the Medium of Instruction). His primary research areas include reading literacy, innovative methods in teaching the Chinese language, teaching Chinese as a second language, the composing process in Chinese writing, and mediums of instruction. Professor Tse served as the Principal Investigator for some well-known large-scale research projects: "Support for Ethnic Minority Students in Local Kindergartens for Effective Learning of Chinese," funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust (2016-2021), and the "Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS 2001, 2006, 2011, and 2016 Hong Kong Projects)". Moreover, he had provided professional and consultancy services to numerous local and international institutions, including the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research (SCOLAR), the Curriculum Development Institute, the Education Commission, and the Education Bureau of the HKSAR Government. His international consultancy includes work for the Chinese Education Centre of the Netherlands Government, the Ministry of Education and Youth of the Macao SAR Government, the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL), and the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Regional Centre for Quality Improvement of Teachers and Education Personnel (QITEP) in Language. Throughout his career, Professor Tse has published numerous books and research articles. His extensive research contributions have earned multiple prestigious accolades, including the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) Dick Wolf Memorial Award, the HKU Research Output Prize (2008), the Quality Education Fund Award Certificate of Merit (2008), the HKU Faculty of Education Knowledge Exchange Award (2014), and an Eminent Scholar Award from the SCCL (2018).
