Prof. Xiao Zhang is an Associate Professor and the Associate Dean (Research Higher Degrees) in the Faculty of Education at the University of Hong Kong. He holds a B.S. and an M.Ed. from Beijing Normal University, and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Hong Kong. Prof. Zhang's primary research program focuses on early childhood development, learning, and education from birth through eight years of age, with specialized lines of inquiry dedicated to early childhood mathematics learning and the developmental ecology of young children. An active contributor to the international developmental psychology community, Prof. Zhang serves as an Associate Editor for the premier journal Child Development and is the Past Chair of the Mathematical Cognition and Learning Society. His extensive research outputs on early childhood cognition, language acquisition, and family environmental interventions are widely published in top-tier international educational and psychological journals.
