
许守仁
Dr. Hui is an expert in Chinese language education. His PhD study specialized in nurturing students' self-regulated learning ability through Chinese reading. He is experienced in providing school-based supp01i and teacher professional development programmes, cultivating school curriculum leaders and research on Chinese language assessment. He has been actively involved in devising Chinese language assessment tools for NCS students, analyzing NCS students' learning performance, developing effective pedagogy, assessment strategies and school-based curriculum to cater for NCS students' diverse needs in Chinese language learning. In 2016, Dr Hui conducted 13 training workshops to help kindergarten teachers utilize the "Chinese Language Learning Progression Framework for NonChinese Speaking Children in Kindergartens in Hong Kong" in learning and teaching. He has been leading QEF Thematic Network (QTN) - Utilizing "Chinese Language Learning Progression Framework for Non-Chinese Speaking Children in Kindergartens in Hong Kong" for Effective Chinese Learning in 2018-19 and 2019-20. He was also the team member and instructor of the series of "Learning & Teaching for Non-Chinese Speaking Students Professional Development Programme for Kindergarten Teachers" since 2017 until now. He is now leading ‘C-for-Chinese@JC’ (Phase 2) for the period from 2021 to 2026. Riding on the foundation and potential that Phase I had built, with the support from HK Jockey Club Charities Trust and in collaboration with 2 institutions and 2 NGOs, the HKU Team in Phase II led by Dr. SY Hui has taken up a prominent role to lead thought leadership and dissemination of culturally responsive knowledge at project level.
